Bring the flavours of El Comedor into your home...

El Comedor restaurant was first established in 1975 by Lourdes del Rosario and her daughters. In its 33 years of existence, the restaurant has established itself as one of Manila's finest. The restaurant specialises in authentic Spanish dishes and is well known for its Cochinillo Asado and Platos Tipicos.

Today, under the extensive direction of Marilen Lopez, owner of El Comedor and award winning cookbook author, you can experience a hands-on class for the complete Spanish cooking experience. Learn all the basic skills needed to prepare a fabulous authentic Spanish meal.

During each lesson, three to four recipes are taught. The menu changes regularly to celebrate the rich regional diversity of classical and contemporary Spanish cuisine. This will also allow you to come to various classes over and over again to expand your cooking skills and recipe knowledge! At the end of the class not only will you be able to enjoy the meal you have prepared, you will also learn the elements of hosting a successful dinner party in a relaxed and fun environment.

The cost of the class includes:

This class is perfect to do with friends too! No experience is necessary, just a sense of fun and passion for great Spanish food!

1. Paella Party
This class is a must for anyone who has ever wanted to create authentic Paella in their own home! We will provide you with a delicious and reliable recipe so that at the end of this class you will have the confidence to make your own unforgettable Paella for your friends and family to enjoy. Not only will you learn tips to make a successful Paella, you will also learn to make a complete meal of it including a first course (traditional Spanish Soup) and dessert of Natilla.

2. El Mundo de las tapas! (Tradicional)
Tapas are essentially snacks or appetizers but are often combined to make a full meal. "Tapeo" (the art of eating tapas) has become a way of life in Spain and is now taking the world by storm! This class gives you the opportunity to learn how to make different tapas so that you can indulge your friends in the different flavours of this diverse cuisine!

Some of the classical tapas dishes you will learn include: Tortilla Espanola, Gambas , Champinones, etc

3. Platos Tipicos - etc about a typical Spanish dinner (eg gazpacho, pollo ala jillo, churros, fabada, caldereta)

4. Daily Home Meals - planning & market list

These are hands-on classes and all participants are actively involved in the food preparation. Class sizes are limited to 8, which allows for as much participation and support as you require.

After the food preparation, you will sit down and enjoy the fruits of your labour with your fellow participants, with a tasting of matched wines.

You will take home with you an Entertainment Kit which provides you with everything you need to replicate the meal seamlessly in your own home. The Entertaining Kit includes all the recipes you have cooked, shopping list, action plan, checklist, last minute instructions, fact sheets and useful information on various aspects of entertaining.

Classes are suitable for all levels of cooking skills. Classes run for approximately 4 hours and cost PHP 2,500 per person.

First come first served basis. Classes run from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM including a sitdown lunch.
For the merienda/tea party, classes run from 2:00PM to 6:00PM including merienda buffet.
