Sept 25: Storytelling Workshop w/ Kuya Bodjie at Museo Pambata
A storytelling workshop for adults will be held at Museo Pambata on Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM.
The workshop will be facilitated by theatre, film and TV actor, Bodjie Pascua. Kuya Bodjie will share his skills and techniques to teach adults how to effectively tell stories to children.
Museo Pambata is calling on teachers, parents and community volunteers to share stories to children because stories serve as tools for learning and understanding issues, concepts and situations. Through storytelling, one can imagine other places, know different cultures and vicariously experience other people’s situations and experiences. Stories shape one’s life, deepen one’s feelings and enrich one's knowledge. Stories encourage values formation and awareness of abstract concepts such as peace and love.
Museo Pambata promotes storytelling as a literacy activity which enhances both reading and listening skills as well as cognitive functions like imagination, intuition and critical thinking in children.
